Seattle Bankruptcy Attorney Nate Riordan received a B.A. with honors from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1992 and graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1998. Nate practiced law in Minneapolis until 2004, where he practiced in the areas of corporate bankruptcy, workouts, restructures, finance, franchise and corporate and transactional law. In 2004, Nate moved to Seattle and has practiced there ever since.

Nate was named a 2023 Seattle Super Lawyer, an honor bestowed on only 5% of the lawyers in Washington each year. This is the 5th year Nate has been named a Seattle Super Lawyer for his work in bankruptcy law.

    Rich Ormond, Patrick Costello and Nate Riordan review the interplay between the federal priority rule and both receiverships and assignments for the benefit of creditors. Receivers who run afoul of the federal priority rule can become personally liable for an unpaid PPP loan. The presenters will explain the federal priority rule and when potential personal liability for an unpaid PPP loan can attach as well how to think about and plan for a liquidation in which the possibility of personal liability for an unpaid PPP loan could attach.
